In 2001, Edmonton took centre stage in the world of sports, hosting the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Championships in Athletics. These games are the third largest global sporting event after the Olympics and World Cup soccer. Organizers wanted a spectacular start to these important games. They wanted magical "wow" moments in the globally televised Opening Ceremonies.
Working with our team of suppliers, PRP created these moments of ‘wow’. PRP helped coordinate the largest and most intricate non-rehearsed card stunt in North America. Over 22,000 audience members were equipped with coloured cards. On cue the audience held up the cards to create large colourful images as the athletes paraded into the stadium. It was a spectacular way to welcome the world’s best athletes.
