Vancouver, BC
After nearly a decade, public ice-skating will once again be a mainstay at Vancouver’s renowned Robson Square.
An initiative of the Government of BC and Vancouver 2010 Olympic Sponsor, General Electric (GE), the multimillion dollar restoration of the ice rink and surrounding infrastructure at the lower court of Robson Square had been an event two years in the making. A prominent hotspot during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralymic Games, Robson Square will be a showcase for BC industry with a Provincial Hosting Facility, in addition to its being an International Media Centre.
Delighted to work with Karyo Edelman, PRP Creative Events, a leader in media events and press conferences, provided creative, production and technical services for the official opening of the GE Plaza at Robson Square.
In celebration of the opening, the Master of Ceremonies, Olympic Gold Medalist Catrina Le May Doan, welcomed Canadian Olympic Figure skating medalist, Jeffrey Buttle to christen the beautiful ice surface. Following Buttle’s moving performance, BC Premier Gordon Campbell, GE President & CEO Elyse Allen and VANOC CEO John Furlong formally opened the ice rink to the public. Skaters from the Vancouver Skating Club joined by Vancouver 2010 mascots Sumi, Miga and Quatchi took to the ice for the first public skate at Robson Square in nearly 10 years.
